A begging mouth is hard to resist!

Sadly, baby bird rescuers, more often than not, feed them. If a baby needs rescuing this is the worst thing that a rescuer can do. Very young birds and those that are in trouble cannot control their temperature and are usually dehydrated. If fed, they will be pushed into Re-feeding Syndrome. When they are admitted by a rehabber, it is a challenge to undo it. The quicker a songbird rehabber admits a baby bird, the more likely it is that it will become a healthy bird that can be released into the wild.
